Àlex Rigola is one of the country’s most important theatre directors. He has been the artistic director of the Teatre Lliure (2003-2011), of La Biennale di Venezia (2010-2016) and of the Teatros del Canal de Madrid (2017-2018). He is the founder and director of HEARTBREAK HOTEL performing arts company.

Highlights among the shows he has directed include 23F Anatomia d’un instant (2021), La gavina (2020), Aquest país no descobert que no deixa tornar de les seves fronteres cap dels seus viatgers (2019), Vania (2017), Ivànov (2017), Who is me.
