Almudena Ramírez-Pantanella

(Madrid, 1988)

Almudena Ramírez-Pantanella is a playwright, scriptwriter and theatre director.

In 2015, she received the Calderón de la Barca National Theatre Prize for the play Los amos del mundo, translated into English and German and performed in Spain, England and Argentina. She formed part of the INAEM’s 5th Programme for the Development of Current Dramas with the work Regurgitar. She has participated as resident playwright at the French national centre CNES Chartreuse de Villeneuve Les Avignon, where she started to write Quirófano, a play premiered at the Centro Dramático Nacional in Madrid as part of the programme Escritos en la escena. She was selected by London’s Royal Court Theatre to participate in the international summer residence, where she wrote Golpe de gracia. Her plays have premiered at the Centro Dramático Nacional, at the Teatro Español, at the Teatro Lara, at Kubik Fabrik and at the Sala Mirador.

In television, she has worked as a scriptwriter on, among others, the Netflix series La casa de papel. She combines these activities with her PhD, teaching seminars at the university on playwriting and directing. She is currently preparing to direct her first feature film.
