Josep R. Cerdà

(Palma de Mallorca, 1971)

Josep R. Cerdà is a graduate in Catalan Language and Literature and teacher. He was Delegate for the Performing Arts of the Balearic Islands Government (2007-2011) and director of the Balearic Islands Institute for Language and Culture (2015-2017). He coordinated the Jardí desolat festival between 2013 and 2015.

He has written and directed own works such as Calor, Fotos de Petra, Merceria, Més enllà de la mar and El mag de la platja, and adaptations of Un enemic del poble by Ibsen, L’oncle Vània by Chekhov, Hamlet party, freely based on Shakespeare, and Victor and the Monster, based on Mary Shelley’s novel. He created the dance show Imitació del foc, based on the work by Bartomeu Rosselló-Pòrcel, and directed the short films Petra at the Airport and Merceria.
