Manuel Veiga

Actor and playwright. Degree in Performing Arts from the Institut del Teatre de Barcelona. Resident playwright at the Teatre Nacional de Catalunya (T6 Project). He has published and premiered diverse plays in Barcelona, Madrid, Buenos Aires, Havana, Montevideo, Puerto Rico, Perú, Chile, Toronto and Saskatoon. In 2009 he won the Gaudi Prize for best short film for Turismo (based on a text by the author). Àccessit SGAE 2006 for Cartones, finalist in the Premi Fundació Romea 2005 for Aluminosi, Premi M. de Pedrolo 2004 for El Cant de la Sirena, Premi Serra i Moret 2001 for Trayecto final, Premi SGAE 97 for Recreo, Premi S. Espriu 95 for La mort dins una baralla de naips, and Premi AADPC 95 for Tempesta de neu. In 2010 he has been given a grant from the Institució de les Lletres Catalanes in order to write a new text. In 2011 he was awarded the Premi Lleida de narrativa en sentit ampli (theatre) for Allà on la ciutat de Candel canviava de nom.
