Paco Bezerra

(Almeria, 1978)

Winner of the National Prize for Dramatic Literature and the Calderón de la Barca National Theatre Prize, both awarded by the Spanish government’s Ministry of Culture. His works have been premiered in Argentina, Puerto Rico and Spain and have been seen at festivals around the world, such as in Chile, Mexico, Argentina, Austria, Italy, Hungary and England. He holds a qualification in Acting from the William Layton Theatre Laboratory and a degree in Dramaturgy from the Real Escuela Superior de Arte Dramático in Madrid. His play Dentro de la tierra has come to form part of the Romance Languages and Translation studies programme at the University of Verona, as well as of the Bachelor of Arts course at the University of Auckland (New Zealand), where it is studied for the subject Cultural Politics in Modern Spain. His most recent plays are Grooming (2009) and La escuela de la desobediencia (2011).
