Theresia Walser was first an actress and it was not until 1997 when she made her debut as a dramatist. Her play King Kongs Töchter (1998) was a considerable success and has enjoyed more than twenty productions since the premiere. Theresia Walser was voted Best Upcoming Playwright 1998 and Best Playwright in 1999 in the critics’ poll of the magazine Theater heute.  She has been given numerous awards and grants, amongst them the Förderpreis des Schiller-Gedächtnis-Preises 1998 and the BHF-Bank-Foundation’s Grant 2006.
